How to Manage the Changing Landscape of Business in 2021

Whether you are a negotiator, a property manager, or a business owner, you will understand that working in the property industry and dealing with people at their most stressed and under pressure, can lead to a difficult working environment. Over the last few months, we have seen the best and worst of people, as we battle with the pandemic.

However, as we hopefully move out of these enforced lockdowns, we need to consider how we manage the changing landscape of business in 2021.

  • The end of furlough may mean redundancies
  • Staff may have changed their career objectives
  • Working from home could be desired or hated

Therefore, re-adjusting your goals and understanding your team’s goals, in line with the current climate, is really important. Whilst many people will be keen to go back to life as it used to be, it is likely that we will continue to encounter even more changes and experience more uncertainty, around what the future will look like.

‘What if ‘Planning

Although lots of people are excited about a normal life coming back, some will be nervous or worried about it too. What if planning is a great way to help in any situation that you might have fears about. It encourages you to think about what is worrying you, and then to plan for the situation if it were to happen. Using this technique helps you to prepare and really think about how you can help yourself.

Consider the following for yourself and if you are a business owner – how much do you know about your team?

Are you/they happy to continue working from home?

Are you/they keen to return to the workplace?

Are you/they about the return to work?

Are you/they looking for a career change?

Are you/they more or less motivated to grow the business?

Many companies are currently offering a flexible working environment. How many will continue to do so? Consider how much flexibility you are comfortable with moving forward? If you haven’t done a survey with your team to check how they are feeling in the current climate, we would suggest this is a good time to touch base with them.

As we move towards the end of furlough and the market seems a little slower. How are you going to manage the next stages of this pandemic? If you are guilty of hiding behind group meetings or email – now is the time to get active in hosting one2one conversations with your team.

We are hosting some Employment and Wellness in the Workplace webinars over the next couple of months![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
