The Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers (DMCC) Act 2024 has taken over from the Consumer Protection Regulations. These are laws that apply to both estate and lettings agents. This section is an overview of the laws as they apply to agents and therefore listers/valuers. Y=We have continued to refer to both the DMCC and the CPRs for ease of understanding.
This section covers advising clients and refers to the Consumer Protection Regulations (CPRs) and also the Estate agents Act. Whilst the estate agents act doesn't apply to lettings, most elements are also covered by the CPR's and therefore represent good practice.
Understanding the law that applies to contracts or terms of business, whether with seller or landlords is key to advising customers effectively and legally.
